BoConcept was born in Denmark in 1952 and is today a premium retail and B2B lifestyle brand. We design, produce and sell a range of contemporary Danish design furniture, accessories and lighting for the living room, dining room, bedroom, office and outdoor spaces. Our products are derived from the minds of some of the worlds best furniture designers. BoConcept Contract collaborate with furniture designers who understand our Danish design history and combine it with modern and contemporary trends and technology. The BoConcept Contract team curate world-class interior (and exterior) design solutions for Residential, Hospitality and Office environments. Including turn-key furnishing solutions for Build-to-Rent, Show Homes, Landlords, Offices, Hotels, Restaurants, Sales Suites and Outdoor areas.

70 YEARS OF BOCONCEPT

It all began in 1952 when two Danish cabinet makers Jens Ærthøj and Tage Mølholm decided to open a furniture factory in a small town called Herning. Their goal was not only to produce quality furniture that looked great, but to create furniture that was functional and worth every penny. Ærthøj and Mølholm got it right. Their vision transformed BoConcept from a small furniture factory to Denmark’s most global furniture chain with more than 300 successful franchised stores in more than 60 countries.

Two Danish cabinet makers Jens Ærthøj and Tage Mølholm decided to open a furniture factory in a small town called Herning. The first pieces of furniture to leave the factory are cabinets made of oak veneer with a mid-section of walnut.

1984

The company is introduced on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. The technological strengths of the company are maintained with more CNC controlled machines that give furniture designers a freer hand.

1999

The four production facilities in Denmark are merged into one company: Club 8 Company. Later, the group’s own upholstery factory is established in Hornslet, Denmark.

2002

A new strategy is launched: One company – One brand. And a new vision is defined: To make BoConcept brand no. 1 within interior design. This milestone effectively moves the company from being production oriented to becoming concept holder for an international retail chain. The fully automated European Distribution Centre is put into operation.

2016

BoConcept AS/ Denmark was acquired by London based capital investment firm 3i, focused on improving infrastructure and Business growth. 3i support the company in accelerating its efforts to build an omni-channel presence as well as expanding its fast growing B2B business.
